Charlie Shaw spent his early childhood traveling the American Southwest before settling in Memphis during the late 1990s. There, he immersed himself in the local music scene, eventually co-founding the alt-country band Silent Parade. His evocative songwriting and soulful guitar work quickly earned him a reputation among discerning music enthusiasts.

After relocating to Portland in 2011, Shaw reunited with former bandmate Nate Vanderpool. Their ongoing collaboration has yielded three albums, including the latest self-titled release, Charlie Shaw Band, recorded at Vanderpool’s Tiny Pinecone Recording in Vancouver, Washington.

Originally formed as a collaborative outlet during the 2020 lockdowns, the band features Joe Greenetz (drums), Dan Wiedeback (bass), and Sam Adams (keys). What began as casual jam sessions quickly evolved into regular Portland performances, culminating in the group’s most cohesive and definitive record to date.
